Soundbar Mounting in Nashville: 7 Things to Plan Before Installation

A wall-mounted TV can look unfinished when the soundbar sits crooked on furniture, blocks the bottom of the screen, or leaves cables hanging in plain sight. The best time to plan the soundbar is before the TV goes on the wall—not after.

At MOUNTIN TVs, Passion and I help customers think through the full setup: screen height, soundbar position, cable paths and how the equipment will move together. Here are the practical details to consider before booking soundbar mounting in Nashville or Mt. Juliet.

1. Decide whether the soundbar should attach to the wall or the TV mount

A soundbar can often be mounted directly to the wall below the television. This creates a clean, centered look when the TV uses a fixed or tilting mount.

Another option is attaching the soundbar to a compatible bracket connected to the TV mount. That can be helpful with a full-motion mount because the soundbar turns with the screen instead of staying behind on the wall. The right choice depends on the soundbar, its mounting points, the TV bracket and how you use the room.

2. Leave enough space below the screen

The soundbar should look visually connected to the TV without covering the picture, the TV's controls or an infrared receiver. It also needs enough clearance for buttons, upward-firing speakers or ventilation when the manufacturer requires it.

Before drilling, measure the soundbar's height and check the TV's lower edge. If furniture or a fireplace mantel is below the setup, include that in the spacing plan too.

3. Center the soundbar with the television

Small alignment errors are easy to notice once both pieces are on the wall. The soundbar should normally be centered to the TV—not simply centered on the nearest stud, outlet or piece of furniture.

A careful layout starts with the TV's true centerline and the soundbar's actual mounting holes. This matters because the mounting holes are not always evenly placed on the back of the soundbar.

4. Plan the connection before hiding cables

Many soundbars connect through HDMI ARC or eARC, while some use an optical cable. Wireless Bluetooth can be convenient, but it may not provide the same control or features as a wired connection on every system.

Check which port your television and soundbar use, then make sure the correct cable is long enough for the planned route. If a full-motion mount will extend or swivel, the cables need safe slack without getting stretched or pinched.

5. Keep power and low-voltage cables safe

A clean installation still needs a safe power plan. Ordinary TV and soundbar power cords should not be hidden loose inside a wall. If power needs to be relocated, the solution should be appropriate for the wall and follow applicable electrical requirements.

HDMI, optical and other signal cables may have different routing options, but wall construction matters. Drywall, masonry, insulation, fire blocks and existing wiring can all change what is practical. A surface cable cover may be the cleaner choice when in-wall routing is not suitable.

6. Think about the wall surface

Drywall, brick, stone and tile do not use the same mounting method. The installer needs to know what is behind the finished surface and whether the soundbar bracket can be secured in the intended position.

Send a clear picture of the entire wall before the appointment. If the surface is brick, stone or tile, mention it in the quote request so the hardware and drilling plan can be discussed in advance.

7. Include the subwoofer and other equipment in the plan

A soundbar may be only one part of the system. Think about where the subwoofer, streaming device, game console and cable box will go. Confirm that remotes can communicate with the equipment and that the TV still has access to every connection you use.

Planning all of the components together helps prevent a finished TV installation from turning into a second cable-management project.

What to send for a soundbar mounting quote

To help us understand the setup, send the TV size, soundbar brand and model, a clear wall photo, the type of TV mount and a picture of the soundbar's back or mounting points. Also tell us whether you want surface cable management or want to discuss concealed wiring options.
